Follow Your Dreams + Giveaway

Y'all ought to know now that I'm a huge believer in going out and chasing your own dreams - not anyone else's. I'd like you to meet one of the authors from Entranced Publishing, Rachel Kall.

If you want something, go after it. Work for it. Don’t quit. Go the extra mile. These are all great inspirational thoughts. But when times get tough, what keeps you following your dreams?

For me, I love to write. The joy I get from writing is different than any other experience. Writing holds a unique place in my heart. Authors often get asked the question, when did you start writing? I usually tell the funny story that I wrote my first “book” in elementary school. It was about two cats—one a ballerina and the other a football player. Even many, many years later I can see the cover of that homemade book in my head as clearly as if it was right in front of me again. The lavender color fabric cover with cats drawn on it—ballet slippers and football helmet included. I kept writing for years, and then school and career took over. It’s a familiar story that many of us have experienced.

It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I wrote my first romance manuscript. I had no idea what I was doing. Just that I loved reading romance, and I wanted to try to write it. I was dreaming big. But what I hadn’t yet discovered was that I had a lot to learn about writing. Writing like everything else in life is part talent but part learned—it requires hard work and study. It also requires a tough skin—rejections are more common than acceptances. In the end, it’s all worth it. I don’t want to look back in a few years and think what if? I want to know I did something I loved. I gave it my all. I went after my dreams with every ounce of energy I could muster—and then some.

For most of us, dreams don’t just come true. We have to work hard to make our dreams a reality. And sometimes along the way, what we think is our dream really isn’t our dream at all. It’s possible that following a dream means creating another path or dream to embrace. Legally Undercover is my debut romantic suspense novel. The heroine Alex is following her dreams—she’s an attorney who wants to make partner at a large Washington, DC law firm. It’s been a dream of hers to make partner since her first day of law school. But in her quest for partnership, she’s lost sight of what is really important in her life. What was once her dream becomes an obsession. She’s isolated and lonely. It takes a top secret investigation and threats to her life to find love and fulfill her dreams.

So I say, whatever your dream is--dream big and work hard. Then work even harder. What is your dream? What is stopping you from pursuing them? What inspires you to follow them?

Rachel Kall writes romantic suspense.  She enjoys writing spicy and suspenseful stories to keep readers guessing.  She’s a lawyer by day and passionate about writing. Her favorite genres are romantic suspense and contemporary romance, but she’s always open to an amazing story in any genre.  Rachel is a member of Romance Writers of America, KOD, and Georgia Romance Writers.   She loves animals and is active in animal rescue.  She enjoys adding loveable pets to her stories.   She lives in Georgia with her husband and five furkids—two dogs and three cats.

Legally Undercover

Attorney Alex Popov’s dream of partnership is put to the test when she’s pulled into a top-secret investigation involving arms dealers and one of her clients, Rodrigues Capital. The only good part about her association with the secretive organization is her client contact, Pedro Martín. She’s drawn to him, but he’s hiding something.

When Jacob shows up as a new attorney at Alex’s firm, it’s clear Pedro isn’t the only one with secrets. As Alex tries to determine Jacob’s true identity, she’s drawn closer to Pedro and deeper into the mystery of Rodrigues Capital and its shadowy networks.

Everyone has an agenda. In a world of lies, where no one is what they seem, Alex puts everything — even her dreams of partnership — on the line for love.

Legally Undercover will be available April 15th.

But 4 lucky people will win a copy of the book free!

I was really inspired by this article because with Rachel's incredibly busy & talented life as a lawyer & writer, it's easy to perceive her as superwoman. It's nice to know that she struggles & has to work very hard for what she wants too, yet she generously shares her tips for staying committed & motivated. Can't wait to read her new book!

Great post, Rachel. The interesting thing about dreams is that more people do more "thinking about pursuing dreams" than acting on them.

Congrats on your new release.
