Since We Last Talked

Since we lasted talked two weeks ago, a lot has happened.

1. Fire Alarms:

Last Friday morning, at like, 4:15 in the morning, my fire alarm went off. Just mine. No one else's. And it wouldn't shut up. God bless my roommate, Brooke, for letting me sleep on the floor in her bedroom. They ended up coming at 12:30 that afternoon to fix it, but by then both of us were long gone. Brooke had class, and I only lasted until about 9:30 before the constant chirping got on my last nerve.

Then Sunday night, the living room fire alarm chirped a few times, but thankfully, this one stopped. The guys came and replaced the battery on that alarm, but Wednesday night, the alarm went off again. Then the one in Brooke's room went off, and they started going back and forth for a few minutes.

Fire alarms hate us guys. No joke.

2. (almost) Broken Toe

After all that happened with my fire alarm, a group of friends and I decided to go play beach volleyball at sonic. Well, two hours after we started, I super bruised arms and I was freezing to death. I dove for the ball, but my leg twisted the wrong way, and for a moment, we thought I pulled a muscle. Brooke helped me up, but I stumbled forward and put all of my weight on one toe.

And it snapped.

My toe's basically fine now, but I was walking weird all last weekend and I had a lovely black bruise.

3.  Writing

I spent about five hours yesterday writing and I'm almost up to 5,000 words so far in this draft. I was going to rewrite The Assassin for NaNoWriMo, but I had the weekend alone, and the creativity would not leave me alone. I wrote and then when I couldn't bleed out the words anymore, I turned to designing. After a hectic and semi-depressing week, it was really nice to just relax, forget about the world, and just create.

The break was great, I will not lie, but I'm glad to be back. How has everyone else been?

out of control

Well, hey guys.

I know I've left you in the dark this week, but it's been a pretty hectic week. It's been one of those weeks where the moment I think I've finished everything, I turn around to find another list of ten things to do.

I was up Tuesday night until 2:30AM working on math homework. I was fortunate enough to have my 8AM philosophy class cancelled the next morning, but....

It's gotten ridiculous.

What has college done to me?

I've gotten to the point where when people get mad at me (like downstairs neighbors), I really don't care. Sure, I mean, I feel bad that I've made them mad, but I'm at the point where I just don't care.

I'm scared I may not pass philosophy. It's a Monday, Wednesday, Friday class and it's at 8AM. I've got my big paper due next month, if I bomb that, my grade is toast in there.

My calender in my room is a white board that you just erase every month. Everything has changed so much, I decided to just re-do it to put everything up until my birthday.

The first two weeks I have one day that doesn't have something on it. It's ridiculous guys. I've obviously spread myself a bit too thin with commitments from classes, to being the Hall Council President, to the other club I'm involved in.

I called my mom the other day to talk to her, and once I got on my rant, I feel like I talked for ten minutes straight without taking a breath.

I'm that busy.

So, obviously when I don't post for three days again next week, you'll understand why. If I disappear for a week and a half, that'll be why.

I'm drowning and I need to find the surface. Don't worry guys, I'm almost there.

This weekend

This weekend, I.....

Cut my bangs super short. A little too short for my opinion.

Went to Reliant Stadium (home of the Houston Texans) for SHSU's big rivalry game against Stephen F Austin, the Battle of the Piney Woods

Watched our awesome marching band play during the halftime show.
Spent the game with my friends.

Watched my bearkats beat the lumberjacks in a really exciting game.
I also made it on TV four times. Be jealous guys, I'm famous now.

How was your weekend?

The Hotel Day

I already showed you some of my favorite pictures of Allie from this weekend. I guess now I need to share some of the pictures she took of me.

By far, this was my favorite photoshoot. The location was beautiful and I love the pictures that came out.

Allie is my best friend in the whole world. But she goes to school at the University of Arkansas and well, I obviously don't.

So even though I went home last weekend, the moment I found out she was coming home this weekend, I convinced my dad to let me come back home again on the greyhound bus and Saturday afternoon was spent taking turns behind the lens. I honestly have no idea why we bond over taking pictures together, but she's the only person who can get a picture of me smiling that I actually like. These are some of my favorite photos from our time together Saturday. Now I just have to wait two months until Thanksgiving to see her again.

Get Your Pitch On - The Pitch

Name: Rhiann Wynn-Nolet
Country of residence: USA
Genre: Dark Fairy Tale retelling (YA)
Word Count: 89,000

Pitch: The MacBride curse decrees that Opal won’t find true love because of her albinism and magical hair.
Attracted by her ghostly appearance dead boy Riff falls for her, as does his living brother Dylan. Opal’s aberrations arouse her uncle’s lust.
Breaking the curse requires Opal and her hair to foil her uncle’s plan to keep her captive and to decide whether happiness lies in this world or the hereafter.

The MacBride Curse decrees that Opal will not find true love because of albinism and her magical hair. Attracted by her ghostly appearance, dead boy, Riff, falls for her, [as does his living brother Dylan.] Opal's aberrations{word choice} arouses her uncle's lust.
Breaking the cures requires Opal and her hair to foil her uncle's plans to keep her captive and to decide whether happiness lies in this world or hereafter.

Okay, I would totally cut out the line about Rif and Dylan or expand about it. If two boys like her, that's probably a big deal. Also, the line about her uncle's lust just seems oddly put there. It seems too blunt. I'd either expand upon it or cut it out. It's just awkward.

I realize that this pitch was supposed to be short, but for your full length-pitch, I'd expand upon exactly what Opal has to do in order to stop her uncle.

Everyone else, I encourage you to leave your own comments about Rhiann's pitch!
