I'm not Dead....Yet

I'm soooooooooooooo sorry that I haven't been updating, I was getting so good. But, let me just update you on why I've vanished from the blogging world the past like week.
You see, last week, I woke up one morning feeling very congested and not able to breath. I thought no big deal, it's allergies or a cold, or something, I'll get over it. I haven't.
Yesterday I woke up and my face is swollen. My eyes are bloodshot.
So now, I look like a drunk, swollen corpse.
It sucks. And next week my musical opens, but if I don't look/feel any better, what are the chances I'll get to be in it? Um... NONE.
Like I said. I'm so sorry that I haven't posted. When I went to the doctor on Thursday, she said it was either pink eye or a viral infection. I don't think she had a clue. But I have to go back for my yearly check up, so I'll find out if I'm better then.

An Age Old Question

To Type or Handwrite?
Yes, tonight, I'm covering it. Beware, I'm split down the middle.
I do both. I carry a notebook around with me where I write a book, I'm working on the final book in The Assassin Saga. Book ten, it's been a lot of fun, I've been writing it for ten months-ish. So, I l,ike being able to pick up the pen and having the access to paper and a story.
But, on the other hand, hand-writing can take a long time, and your mind can get ahead of your hand, it often does. Typing is faster and there's word check. So many factors over which you choose.
Well, this sucks, this post was supposed to be A lot longer. So, what's your opinion? Hand or type? Let me know.

Awards!

First off, I love the responses I've gotten on the new layout. So glad you like it. I didn't want to change it, but I feel like this one is really nice, so it'll stay a while. I promise, I won't change it until I finish book two at the earliest!
Off to the fun stuff! Today, I got an award! And on Fictional Writer L Renee S said that you're supposed to continue the tradition, which makes sense, since there are a few people I'd like to thank!

The awards:

Evie @ Peace, Love, & Books: She's helped me in so many ways. She always finds a way to make my day with her funny comments and she's an absolutely phenomenal writer! I love ya, Evie!

L Renee S @ Fictional Writer: She puts up with my random blog designing urges like no other! Such a sweet girl too!

Morgan (MIC) on inkpop. Such a sweet girl and she's helped me so much too!
I feel like there are people missing, oh well, that means I'll be able to give out more awards! Even if I didn't mention you, I love all you guys that follow me and comment and everyone on inkpop that's helped me, and all my inkpop friends that I get 500 facebook notifications from everyday!
And tomorrow....
An actual writing topic. I promise.

New Design!

This time wasn't my fault, I swear. The other brown background is getting removed tomorrow so I had to find a new background, and all my stuff didn't fit with this one, so I had to change everything. Sorry!

Book Review: Troublemaker

Book review: Troublemaker:
Page count: 114 (it's a graphic novel)
First thought: Wow, I can't believe I actually found it that fast. (It came out today.)
Setting: In Miami, Flordia. Just like all the other books. Since I've never been there, I have no idea how accurate the drawlings are, but the setting is good.
Characters: Hooker & Barney have such a crazy realtionship which is bound to bring laughs. This time around we also get to meet Hooker's mom, who just moved from Texas after her divorce.
Writing Style: It was mostly dialouge, with an occasional inner thought from Barney. After all, it is a graphic novel.
Cover: Nice, but I wish it had more colors.
Plot: You only get half of the plot since the other half is coming out in November, so it'll be on my b-day list, but one of Hooker & Barney's friends gets mixed up with the wrong people and a voodoo doll, so they have to find her.
Dislikes: It's too short.
Final thoughts: I'm so counting down till November, and not for my birthday either. Personally, I'd wait until it comes out in paperback or the second one comes out. It just goes by too fast.

Book Review: The Red Badge of Courage

First off, thanks to Evie at Peace, Love, & Books. I stole this review system from her.
Everything is rated on a scale of five.
****

See the pretty stars?
My first book I shall be reviewing is The Red Badge of Courage by Stephan Crane. Here I go:
Page count: 115
First thought: The faster I read this, the less painful it'll be.
Setting: I knew it was out in the wild, it was in the middle of a war. But beyond that, Crane didn't give me much to work with.
Characters: There aren't very many characters in this book, and they don't have names. The main character is called "the youth" the whole time. Very confusing.
Writing Style: Style? He was very...um... wordy in his descriptions. It was confusing because he'd go on and on, and then he'd move to one thing, but the transitions sucked.
Cover: old, and rustic. True to the times. I like the cover, but they always say not to judge a book by it's cover.
Plot: There wasn't really a plot. Well, I couldn't find it in all the wordy descriptions that didn't make any sense!
Dislikes: The whole book?
Final thoughts: I'm so flunking the test for this in the fall.

Big Break

No, I'm not taking a break, but I might just have found my big writing break!! You see, I work for a part company, DFW Kids Parties, and this morning I went to Wylie to watch my boss, Toybox the clown, and when we were coming back, she was telling me how she wants to take Toybox and make a children's show with Toybox and wants to publish a book series and....

SHE ASKED ME TO WRITE THE BOOK SERIES!

I'm so excited, I can't even tell you how much fun this sounds. I've already got ideas and everything! I'm actually going to see her again tonight and I'm just so excited! This will be so great! I have to go in a few minutes, but I'll come back and tell more later tonight!

Eclpise the Movie Kills....

 If you don't believe me....
Click here.
So, I haven't actually seen the movie, even though I kinda want to, but I think dying like that is a pitiful, sad way to go. I'd hate to be famous for that. I'm more of the type who wants to be famous for being a bestselling author.
But...today
I ACTUALLY WROTE!

How crazy is that? The scene I'm writing now has Cassie in her school hallway being held at gunpoint by her slightly-not-mentally-stable-step-mom. And her old, cat lady, English teacher has to save her.
I love adding humor to tense, suspenseful moments. It's how I roll.
But seriously, I am so happy about being able to write again, words can't even describe it.
Then again, I'm not too happy about the broken side mirror on my dad's car that was my fault! Even if it was an accident! I swear! It's not my fault his garage is tiny! It takes skills to back out/park it.

I think she's stalking me.....

Okay, not really, but seriously, the past few days, ever since I started that stupid 30 Day Shred, Jillian Michaels is popping up EVERYWHERE! She was in an add on my photobucket account. And yesterday at Target, my mom bought a Cardio workout DVD from The Biggest Loser show. Then today, for my mom's birthday, it was ten days late, my aunt sent her another copy of it!
<------------------------------------------
I could have died.
No, seriously. You don't understand.

But, I worked at the library again, and no four year-olds called me cute today! That's always a good thing. Or is it? Anyways, not going to ponder on that.
But, once again, I've managed to totally avoid writing. I'm thinking tomorrow afternoon I'm going to disconnect my internet and WRITE!

Hm....

Be sure to check out my other blog:

Oh, and today, as I was bored out of my mind, I made new covers! What do you think?

But, tomorrow it's time to get serious. I need to finish Chapter Seven of Revenge of the Rossetts. This is ridiculous.  I need to just work my butt off writing and finish this book! I kinda put myself in a bind at the beginning of the book by breaking Cassie's leg, so she's, and myself, limited in what she can do. Stupid idea! Unless it's critical, don't break your MC's bones! BAD IDEA! I'm just saying. Oh, and what do you know...
It's dinner time. Again.

I GOT A NUMBER!

And I'm going to die of embarrasment if he reads this. Which he won't, but still, you never know. I'm so happy! I got back today from DCYC, isn't the banner pretty? They did a fabulous job this year with the designs. I loved them.

But, this was my fifth year to go, and I got to see a very old friend of mine, Stanley! Well, his name is Kyle, but I call him Stanley. It's like an inside joke from when we were like five. It was a lot of fun.
The other thing on my big to-do list weekend was the first annual "Nellie Awards" at my theater. I was a presenter with my good friend Blake. That was a lot of fun last night too. Except for the part where I had to wear heels for four hours. That was not fun.

But, on to the real point of this post. Slacking. Do you writers ever feel like you never get any writing done? I feel like I spend more time on inkpop and stuff than I actually do writing and as much as I hate that fact, I love it too. I'm taking a month to finish a chapter it seems like, I used to be able to do a 4000 word chapter in a week at the most. So, have any of you guys suffered this problem? And if so, what's your secret to overcoming it?
Oh, and when I was gone this weekend at my conference, The Assassin hit a new high on inkpop. 34! So happy :)
Now, for real, off to go write...eat dinner.

An actual post?

Yes, since I didn't wait until 7 at night to update, you get a full post today. You ought to feel lucky. Right?
It's been a few crazy days. Besides redesigning the whole entire site, as you've noticed, I've been going going going like non stop.

Everyone knows about Jillian Michaels, right? The Biggest Loser trainer? Well, let's just say, I now know how they lose all that weight. I'm only two days into her stupid 30 day shred and I can feel it. It's really hard.

But....on the bright side, I get a break tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to the DFW airport and I'm staying in a hotel for DCYC! I'm so excited. DCYC is the conference with over 1,000 Catholic kids from all over the diocese. There's music, prayer, workshops, and talks. In a day and a half!

It's the greatest thing ever! This'll be my fifth year in a row. I still have to finish packing, but all my clothes are in the laundry.
But, on the bright side, I finally got all the edits up of The Assassin on inkpop. :D And, I'm about halfway done with the sequel! I'm so excited. I can't wait to see how it turns out! And, I promise. I will not change the way the site looks like until I finish Revenge of the Rossetts. Oh, and before I forget, if you're on inkpop, be sure to check both books out! And thanks to Evie at Peace, Love, & Books for agreeing to help me get into the top five next month. We're gonna be top five buddies. :)
Oh, and for some strange reason, I've never told you about these:

AHH! Book covers, that I made all by myself. I actually made them a while back, but I'm just now letting you know about them. How horrible for me.
It's back! Song of the day: "Only Prettier" by Miranda Lambert. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

So, what do you think?

I've spent two days on this, and I'm still not done. I hope to finish tomorrow because I'm leaving for a church conference over the weekend. I'm so excited about it. And tomorrow the edits go up for The Assassin!!

I'm so excited!

It's gonna be great! I'm going to finish everything tomorrow and then I'm going to update all the pages and like I said before. So excited. I don't have much time to update today because I have to eat and then go to a three hour rehearsal for Big: the musical.
But I promise, there'll be an actual update tomorrow!
Oh and I got twenty followers now! Let's get another twenty, tell all your friends!

I SWEAR!

This is the last time in a while. This has taken me all day to change, so don't think it'll change again! What do you think? I like it, it's a lot more bolder, and cooler that way :)
But, I finally got my game back! I've managed to write over a page and a half while managing the mess I've left this in. I've got about 26K words in Revenge of the Rossetts which means I'm about half way done! Super excited. I was going back through the early drafts of this book, and I uncovered a subplot that I had totally forgotten about, so I am super happy :)
But, I had a short rehearsal tonight, so that's always good.
The Assassin is still at 36 on inkpop, so if you're on inkpop, read and add please!
love, lala

Romance

Today I'm actually going to blog about a writing topic:
Romance:
Romance in YA. How much do you have, if you write YA. On inkpop, we've had tons of arguments/discussions on when is too young, when is too old, should you wait for marriage, or sleep with the first person you date. I guess, this is turning into a sex discussion now. Crap. But, do you like books that have romance that takes center stage in the book, or are you like me, where you like adventure, and a bit of romance on the side?
All the time my friends have known about me writing, they've always wanted me to write a romance book, but I don't think I could. I read way too much adult fiction (finally got Sizzling Sixteen, can't wait for my mom to finish reading it), so I think it would be hard for me to balance YA romance. I've actually found it hard to write about any kind of romance, maybe because I've never experienced it. I've been in one relationship and that was a disaster. So, I can't take from experience and it stinks.
So, what's your opinion on romance in YA books, if you write them?
Let me know!

Sequels

I hope you like the roses. I know I've changed it at least a dozen times in the past week. I feel bad about it, I really do. But, I'm proud to bring to you:

Sage Ryder is sick of vampires, but there's nothing she can do to get rid of them, except make them drink her blood. Chosen as a guide for a vampire who has escaped death dozens of times, she has to make sure he does'nt suscumb to human blood, which will kill him. Human blood is fatal to vampires, and only a few are lucky to survive, but they just can't seem to stop drinking it. So the vampire officials are taking over and choosing humans as guides to help save the endagered vampires. But a more vicious enemy is trying to expose the vampires to the world and kill them all. Sage and the rest of the guides must save the vamipres and the world.

Still looking for a title. I suck at titles. It's sad.
But, I've got a question. Yeah, all of you who actually read this are probably like "another one?"
Sequels. Right now I'm  writing the sequel to The Assassin, which is called Revenge of the Rossetts. I've hit a dead end and I've stalled out completely on what to write next. I'm thinking about ending it in the next two chapters, which would make the book about 30000 words, and moving on to the next book, which has a lot more definite plot to it. So, have any of you ever stalled out on a sequel, and what did you do to make it work out in the end? Or did you just not make it work? To be honest, this has never been one of my favorite books in the series, but it's necessary. Ah, I so need help!
